Fight Fascism, Use Linux

Here is the list of Tech CEOs who were so spineless that they met with President Trump.

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/14/technology/trump-tech-summit.html?_r=0

You might say, “how can anyone representing some of the most forward thinking companies on Earth meet with Donald Trump?” Well, that’s it. With the exception of Tesla, they are not forward thinking companies. They’ve been selling you the same garbage, slowing down the release of new products, repackaging Open Source tools with slight modifications and charging your for them, and throttling your access to the best of their ability for years. Oh yeah, they charge you a lot for it too.

However, there is good news. You don’t need to run Windows or Apple anymore. The Free Open Source Operating System Linux has been amazing for years now and most distros are user-friendly too. Linux is also very efficient and scalable, so in general you can keep your systems viable and running for 2 or 3 times longer than with Windoze or CrApple systems which is good for the environment. Plus once you make the switch to Linux you never have to deal with any of the bullshit surrounding proprietary computing again, except when you deal with people who haven’t made the switch, even then there are usually simple workarounds. LibreOffice, for example, can read from and save to just about any other Office Suite format. You can use Amazon Video in Chrome, which runs on many Linux distros, and therefore use Google Service like Docs and Drive with Linux. The list goes on, but in general, since there is a better free alternative out there than the companies that met with Donald Trump provide, then why reward them by buying their products? Open Source is already everywhere anyway.

The distro I recommend is Ubuntu Linux:

https://www.ubuntu.com/

Here is a link to the only ethically made computer on the planet. The Raspberry Pi. It runs Linux and is only $35. It uses a more efficient ARM processor (like your smartphones does), than the Intel stuff you’re used to. It’s made in the UK by workers that actually have rights. Imagine that. So when Apple or Samsung tells you they can’t afford to make the iPhone, the Galaxy, or any of their other overstated products here, you can tell them you know they’re full of shit.

DNC Chooses to Lose in 2020 with Tom Perez

Man the Democrats never learn from their mistakes! I think Donald Trump’s tweet about Tom Perez says it all but I’ll elaborate on this too.

“Congratulations to Thomas Perez, who has just been named chairman of the DNC. I could not be happier for him, or for the Republican Party.” — Donald Trump

(What Trump meant to whisper was, “because Thomas Perez is an establishment goon and actually a Republican just like Barack Obama who I pretend to hate but like because of all of the wars, fascism, oppression and protection of the establishment.)

You see, the DNC is so focused on maintaining the establishment, that puts corporate citizens first, that they just won’t make a really progressive move even though there are many indicators, like their defeat by the Republicans, unrest at town hall meetings, etc. to show that the nation is in a populist mood.

You see, like all of the old establishment parties, the baby-boomer side of the DNC is mostly racist but in a reverse way. They believe that just because Thomas Perez is latino, that alone will be enough to make everyone look away from the fact that he is an establishment scumbag. They figure that they can just have him do some gerrymandering, like good old waste of sperm Cory Booker, and all will be well because they are elitists that think the American people are stupid. They figure that even if they’re wrong, what are we going to do, vote fro Trump again? Which is the same bet they made with Hillary Clinton…. (Sad Sarcastically) That went well for them right.

Here’s the truth. Most Americans are better than their elected officials. They don’t care if the DNC chair has two vaginas, four stomachs, three assholes, and is from Mars as long as they stop screwing the average American over. This is why Bernie was so popular and why Keith Ellison was the correct choice for DNC chair. Well, the correct choice if the party actually wanted to represent the working man, instead of the establishment which it obviously does not.

I never try to explain anything with conspiracy that I can with stupidity, and the DNC definitely has a lot of stupidity afoot, but doesn’t it seem odd that the Democratic party is setting itself up again to either lose or protect big corporations? Doesn’t it seem like they’re setting themselves up to give us no real choice, again, in 2020? I mean, they’re talking about running Cory Booker in 2020 already. Can you think of a worse candidate, well besides running Hillary Clinton again?

Here is a link to a video that explains how governments work that will shed some light on why Democrats and Republicans alike keep fucking over the little guy. It’s called “The Rules for Rulers”.

Lessons from the Past for Today

Kane (smugly): I’ve talked with the responsible leaders of the Great Powers – England, France, Germany, and Italy – they’re too intelligent to embark on a project which would mean the end of civilization as we now know it. You can take my word for it. There’ll be no war.  — Citizen Kane

There are many lessons to learn from the past that apply today. I’ve chosen this movie quote, as it highlights much of the thinking at the time about Germany and the possibility of World War 2. In fact, until General George S. Patton made residents near the Buchenwald Concentration Camp tour it, many denied that the Nazi’s could be as cruel as was rumored. Some still do today.

http://www.scrapbookpages.com/Buchenwald/Exhibits.html

So what does this have to do with our current situation. Well, many of us are also in denial about our current situation. While it’s true that I’ve predicted that Trump will be largely ineffective, the threat of fascism will not leave when Trump is impeached. In fact, it may get even worse under Pence or any of the alt-right leaders that are now in power. Trump has already done a lot of damage, and we already have a lot to do to reverse it. Just the effective loss of Net Neutrality means that your news is already being censored, so your ability to fight in an effective peaceful manner has been severely limited.

What gives me the most concern is the denial I hear from other Americans today. Some say, “it many not play out like we think.” Or, “it may not be as bad as we think it will be.” They say this while Corporate Democrats help Republicans screw the American people out of affordable healthcare, good educations, try to create bans against entire races of people, brutal deportations have started and even your access to information is limited. Thanks to our totally pro-corporate capitalist system, you are paying top dollar for all of this treatment. Hell, we have almost 9% sales tax and high property tax here, but I can’t even get my road plowed when it snows. I’m basically told to go fuck myself by my local government. The solution is obvious, luxury taxes. We can’t keep raising the sales and property taxes on the poor and middle class. It’s killing them. Yet the government is filled with wealthy people, so they will never tax themselves. So they make overtaxing the poor sound fair. Taking away your opportunities as giving you choice. The list goes on and the wealthy have to be taxed and regulated before they destroy everything. It’s not unfair. You can’t become wealthy without the help of others. So we’re just asking them to take care of the communities that take care of them. Hell, right now the government will even send the public servants that you pay for, like the cops, along to help the bank seize your home and kick you and your family out on the street if you miss a mortgage payment. In fact, the government will even kill you under quite a long list of circumstances.

Do we setup governments to kill us? I ask this only because they do seem to be doing a lot of jailing and killing of citizens lately. That doesn’t sound to me like something a government should be doing. Just like they shouldn’t be in your bedroom, telling you what other adult(s) you can marry, or telling you what totally safe substances you can put into your body, like Marijuana. The government, and your corporate masters, have overstepped their bounds and have removed the natural separations that should exist between all entities to protect your freedoms. For example, Marijuana is legal in Washington State, but many employees are drug tested and can be fired if their employer tests for weed. Effectively, this allows their employer to control whether they can partake in the use of a new substance that has been made legal by their state government. That is one example of how employers are in control of your freedoms.

So what does this mean? It means that we need to not make the mistake that the French and most of the rest of the world made during the pre-WWII period. We need our governments to stop being our moral police and trying to push our morals onto the rest of the world. We need to not underestimate the need to prepare for a fascist government and what it is capable of. We need not to be petty to our neighbors, which will only allow fascist power and support to grow. Remember one of the root causes of WWII was that the French and English, understandably still pissed off about WWI, taxed the Germans into poverty. “Poverty is the worst form of violence.” — Gandhi. This laid the groundwork for the Nazi’s to come into power. Without this childish behavior, this may have never happened. Poverty creates desperate, pissed off, people that are capable of anything.

If we’re going to hold entire countries accountable, which I think is crazy, but if we’re going to ban muslims then we need to at least include the countries that have harbored terrorists that have attacked the US in the past. Like Saudi Arabia. We need to stop giving Saudi Arabia a pass because of the corporate interests that Bush, Trump and many others have there. They have ATMs that dispense gold for fucks sake, because that’s how wealthy they are because of the amount of oil we buy from them. If that doesn’t make you want to drive a more fuel efficient car, get an electric car, shop locally, etc. I don’t know what will. We also need to stop arming the Saudi’s. Something we’ve been doing since the Obama administration.

Did you know that we built a totally safe, almost zero waste nuclear reactor in the 60’s in Oak Ridge, Tennessee based on Thorium instead of Uranium? The government decided to use the much more dangerous Uranium solution so they could make ICBMs (aka nuclear missiles). So we could have been energy independent as far back as about 1960, assuming that we built these reactors, and moved ahead with renewable research as well. This would have made electric cars desirable by the 1970s and we could have avoided almost all of our problems in the middle east. You know why we didn’t do it, aside from building ICBMs? So rich people could make money off of poisoning us and the planet. That’s it, there is no reasonable explanation for the use of other energy sources on a large scale. We can build them now by the way, but are choosing to go backward to natural gas and even coal. Other countries, like China and England, are going ahead with LFTR reactors builds. http://fortune.com/2015/02/02/doe-china-molten-salt-nuclear-reactor/

Oh yeah, we’re paying them to do it.

We need to stop supporting Israel in its onslaught against the Palestinian people and stop pretending that there are two equal armies fighting it out over the West Bank. The Israelis are way better equipped than the Palestinians, thanks largely to us, and when they feel like slaughtering their neighbors, there is little their neighbors can do to protect themselves. Why are we supporting Israel at this point when they:

  1. Are a strong independent nation that doesn’t need our help.
  2. Are acting like children in regard to reaching an agreement with their neighbors.
  3. Are aggressively settling the West Bank, regardless of the consequences.
  4. Have suggested a 2 state solution where Palestine will end up as a police state under Israeli rule.
  5. We have US cities in desperate need of help here. How long will Flint, Michigan and East Chicago, Indiana have to wait for clean water? Is New Orleans really ready for the next Katrina?

Anyway, supporting Israel is immoral and just pisses off everyone else in the middle east.

We are building up huge stockpiles of weapons, we have been for a long time now, and we haven’t been at peace since WWII. Meanwhile, we’re allowing our country to fall apart. Think about this, a single F-35 fighter jet is $135 million dollars. For the cost of just one of these planes we can wire up the entire state of California with publicly owned fiber optics cabling which will last for at least 60 years and give them untold benefits, yet why we tell them we don’t have enough money to do something like that, or even give their kids decent school lunches, we have enough to buy 115 F-35s?! Here’s the truth, the government doesn’t give a shit about you. The citizens they care about aren’t even real people, they’re corporations.

So great, we have awesome first strike capability, but what do we think will happen if we don’t have reliable infrastructure to fall back on if we’re cut off from trade with the rest of the world. Like say, if our economy collapses, which it looks like it’s going to again soon. Or if others like Mexico stop trading with us because we have bat-shit crazy policies like trying to get them to pay to build a wall between our two countries. These countries make many of the products we rely on daily, because we have stopped making just about everything here.

Make no mistake, we may be doing most of our fascism in the dark now, but we are spying on our own citizen with new tools and more fervor than even the Nazi’s did on their own. Even president Obama misused the law to punish people who leaked information, do you think this administration is going to be more benevolent.

Meanwhile, we are so hopelessly tied to our system of Neo-Classical Capitalism that you can’t even do anything in your community without setting up some kind of corporation and often being told by your government what companies you can and can’t talk about in meetings. Something I’ve experienced first hand.

In short, we have a fascist government in place. This government will act like Corporate Nazi’s if the environment is right and they can get away with it because they’ve forced us all to beg corporations and banks for the right to do even benevolent work in our communities. This allows them to filter out “undesirables” using money before they can ever become a “threat.”  Time to rise above living just to make a dollar and turn our country into a Democracy instead of the current Corporate State, or we’re all pretty much screwed. Time to vote for progressives, and not fake progressives like Waste of Sperm Cory Booker, but real progressives like Keith Ellison, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.

In the end we need a government that serves the people first, not corporations, and is filled with people of the highest character. This government needs to be accountable to the people and by that I don’t mean corporations. Corporations are Not People.

Don’t Panic, Trump Won’t Be Effective In The Long Run

So, why haven’t I been commenting on all of the horrible things that Trump has been doing over the last couple of weeks? Well, before I tell you why, let’s list them.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/26/politics/executive-orders-presidents-actions-presidential-memoranda/

Note: I think CNN is a pretty shitty news company. Not that they do things that are illegal, or potentially illegal, like FOX News, but just that they kind of suck on ice at actually telling us the news and confronting the establishment. Still, this is a good list.

Anyway, if you enjoy strategy games like Chess as much as I do, you’re watching the moves Trump is making and realizing that he has already potentially violated the constitution several times. He is setting himself up for defeat. The real question is how good is his opponent and how much damage will he do before he is put in checkmate? Well, if his opponent is the corporate Democrats then they’ll probably ask for a stalemate before the game is over. Too weak to pursue victory, they’ll take what they can get. “Please Mr. Trump, yes Mr. Trump, I didn’t mean to win, I mean you obviously were distracted and really won after all,” will say wastes of sperm like Cory Booker.

If it’s a progressive, then checkmate fool! Sure, it will take people time to mobilize. It takes the non-progressive Democrats forever to do anything about anything, but when they do it will be easy to shut him down.

It reminds me of the North in the Civil War. Man, did it take them a long time to mobilize and do anything about the South. This might have had a lot to do with how many slaves rich white folks owned in the North too. Cough, Cough, oops I said that out loud. Turns out most of the very wealthy were always scum. Anyway… a quote from that time:

Let me tell you what is coming. After the sacrifice of countless millions of treasure and hundreds of thousands of lives, you may win Southern independence if God be not against you, but I doubt it. I tell you that, while I believe with you in the doctrine of states rights, the North is determined to preserve this Union. They are not a fiery, impulsive people as you are, for they live in colder climates. But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche; and what I fear is, they will overwhelm the South.” — Sam Houston

So the Democrats will move. Too late, but eventually they will move and win. The question is what kind of victory do we want? Do we want a shitty, Cory Booker victory where we preserve the shitty system we had before Trump. (I am referring to this period as “the before time” by the way) or do we want to finish Bernie’s revolution. I vote for option two.

In the meantime, making Trump a lame duck is the best solution. Why you ask? Well, because if he’s impeached Mike Pence will become president and then we’re totally boned.  Right now, Trump just kind of has the tip in, with no lube mind you, but just the tip. Pence will come at us all from behind, without asking, without even buying us a drink first, and without even using lube and jam the whole alt-right Republican agenda deep inside. With Trump as an ineffective lame duck president we can effectively shutdown the Republican agenda. Get rid of the corporate democrats, and put a progressive in the white house in about 4 years. We can start filling the other seats this year.

So just like in the past, your best bet is to get out there, get involved, and VOTE!

Note: Over 90 Million Eligible Voters didn’t vote in 2016.

Update: Muslim Travel Ban Suspended Temporarily.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/04/so-called-judge-donald-trump-attacks-decision-to-halt-travel-ban

So, some good news recently backing up my overall point here was announced today. Trump is being called out on his unconstitutional executive orders. It’s up to us to make sure it sticks.

Still, he is already attacking the environment, with the help of not just Republicans but Corporate Democrats as well. The damage that laws like lifting the methane ban, new domestic oil drilling, fracking, and not increasing fuel standards, just to name a few, will have on people and other living things should be considered a violation of the constitution as well. Think about it, we all have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We can’t even being to have those things if we don’t have the basic necessities of life like clean water and air. More deforestation will cause more erosion that may, among other thnigs, literally crush people to death. Sounds to me like not supporting reasonable environmental  policies is also a violation of the constitution.

Update February 6th, 2017

The following polls put Donald Trump at the overall approval ratings. (The Average is usually about 53%)

CNN — 40% (As of Friday February 3rd)

Gallup — 43% (Through February 5th, 2017)

Washington Post — 40% (From January 17, 2017)

Fox News –Agrees with CNN polls in one article, but then also posts a lot of erroneous Fake News Articles, etc. They sometimes show separate job approval polls, but getting a straight answer out of them is hard.

http://radio.foxnews.com/2017/01/17/new-polls-show-president-elect-trumps-approval-ratings-are-low/

I could keep going on, but it’s pretty obvious that President Trump needs to do something he is incapable of. Self-Reflection and Improvement. So this, really supports my overall claim if the Democrats grow the rocks and/or vulvas to hold him to account.

Trump Does Something Right, and Then a lot of Other Things Very Wrong

Hooray, Trump killed the TPP. Hey, I’m obviously not a fan of Trump’s policies in general, but this was a good thing and I’ll give him, or anyone, credit where credit is due. Still, he has to get rid of NAFTA too before I’ll give him a full pat on the back. Let’s say this is a half pat. Also note that there is a probably a 70% chance that he will find a way to make his corporate friends happy by enacting the parts of the TPP that are in their interest down the road. He’ll probably even work the name Trump into the name of the “deal” somehow. Still, for now it’s a good thing.

Proponents of the TPP, aka “New Democrats”, more accurately the corporate Democrats that destroyed the party like the scum-sucking piece of shit Cory Booker who made it so your grand-ma can’t afford the medicine she needs to stay alive from Canada, say that the TPP included many good things like rules barring child labor from being used in partner countries, but saying something and enforcing it are two different things.

  1. You’re dealing with countries that don’t bat an eye at using child labor. Do you think they’re really going to listen? Look at our food industry. Meat processors pay fines all of the time instead of running safe processing plants. They’ll just keep using child labor and pay the fines if they get caught.
  2. Great the TPP gets rid of discrimination, on paper anyway. So you can’t discriminate against a worker for stupid reasons. That’s good, but then you’re going to pay them 30 cents an hour for hard labor to make stupid shit for Americans to buy. So it doesn’t sound to me like you’re really doing them a favor.

However, at the same time Trump did this he did a lot of very scary things too.

  1. He reopened the Keystone and DAPL pipelines.
  2. He attacked women’s rights with very backward anti-abortion laws.
  3. He is not going to stand in the way of logging in the Northwest that will probably result in the extinction of the Spotted Owl.
  4. He is already meeting, almost exclusively, with the heads of giant, abusive corporations and taking their advice on how to set policy.
  5. He will probably not require internet providers to maintain Net Neutrality. So I hope you like MSNBC, and the Comcast owned companies, because get read for them to be prioritized in the background, but don’t worry, if you’re poor you probably won’t be able to really even use the internet during peak hours while the bandwidth you pay for is stolen and given to rich customers to maintain their HD movie watching capability. It’s way cheaper for Comcast and CenturyLink  to do this than to really improve their infrastructure and they’ve done it in the past.

Trump and Natural Selection

For Reference:

Evolution: The gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form.

Natural Selection:

The process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. The theory of its action was first fully expounded by Charles Darwin and is now believed to be the main process that brings about evolution.

Artificial Selection:

The breeding of plants and animals to produce desirable traits. Organisms with the desired traits, such as size or taste, are artificially mated or cross-pollinated with organisms with similar desired traits. (Compare natural selection.)

I’ve been thinking about what an oddity having a ruler like Trump truly is historically. Even if you lob in the totalitarian dictators. You see Trump supporters, the ones that kind of believe in Evolution (which has been so well proven that it should be a law at this point, but is not…) believe that Trump, and they, are a higher breed of person that is destined to lead. So they believe in natural selection, well ok they believe in the 1930s pre-genetic understanding version of it put out by the Nazis, although getting them to admit it would be hard. God must have created them to be leaders right? Well no…

Well guess what, neither standpoint is based in reality. For starters they operate in the artificial construct of civilization and then in a subset of that construct called a Neo-Classical Capitalist Culture. Now, I want to live in a civilization. In fact, the whole reason people establish civilizations and then governments is supposed to be to improve their quality of life. Hell, almost none of us would live past 40 if it weren’t for civilization, but let’s get back to Trump.

So in a tribal society a ruler like Trump would have actually have had to be competent, benevolent, or very powerful. In fact, he would have had to be a little of all of those things, at least to the right people. Personally I like using King Kamehameha I, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamehameha_I, as an example. If the ruler was deficient in any of these areas they were vulnerable and needed to surround themselves with competent advisors, loyal protectors, and a large military to keep their power. They also had to control the distribution of resources, where possible. If not, well you’d have a new ruler pretty soon.

In the book “The Mote in God’s Eye” an argument is made early in the book in relation to how civilization removes the natural pressures that make the species better. I for one have to wear glasses and have allergies, so I’m pretty happy to be part of a civilization. Although most of my allergies have to do with pollution. Anyway, it’s true that people are adapting to live a different way. This means that our leaders and government need to adapt as well. Yet we’ve ended up with a man the least suited to rule any kind of society, whether it be an old tribal society or a modern civilization.

Let’s list off some examples why Trump is a bad fit from this standpoint:

  1. He is too old to have survived in a natural environment.
  2. His age has not brought him the wisdom to carefully weigh all of his options in situations. (So he has negated one of the most important advantages of living in a civilized society.)
  3. He is not benevolent and backs legislation that literally is going to kill his fellow citizens, who will eventually may get pissed off enough to do something about it. Threatening his power base.(See the recent overturning of much of the Affordable Health Care Act.)
  4. He is not smart enough to surround himself with competent, loyal advisors. Hell, the best advisor he has is arguably his super-model daughter. I’ll bet a super-model has to deal with a lot of foreign policy issues. They only get worse from there and they all think in the cut-throat way that he does.
  5. He does not use the technology available to him to create progress. In fact, he denies that science can tell him anything on many issues, including climate change, and loves 18th and 19th century energy solutions like coal and natural gas. (One of the big advantages to an educated populous is creating advancements that improve the quality of life for all and lower expenses.)
  6. He unnecessiliary soils the environment that he lives in, even though he has other options. He does this even though he has offspring to look after as well. I am hard pressed to think of another animal that does something that is so against their own interests.

I could go on, and will in the near future.

So how does this relate to natural and artificial selection. Well at some point we created a civilization with a set of rights, laws and services to help improve the quality of life for everyone. This was a good idea in general for most of the people. Hence a civilization should benefit most of the people because that’s why it exists. It’s an adaptation we made so we could be more prosperous, have higher quality of life, and live longer. Yet it is an artificial construct, so it needs to be managed because there is no natural system to correct it. The only correction will be that a civilization will use up its resources, collapse, and then we’ll be subjected to the harsh reality of natural selection again. That is not something we should be aiming for if we can avoid it. However, it’s true that some people will naturally do better in that artificial construct than others. Some will reject it and not prosper in it.

So this artificial system does not have natural processes to control it. So slowly, because most of us were comfortable for a time, we allowed those in power to become corrupt and degrade into a system of Neo-Classical Capitalism run by Corporation whose only goal is to make money any way they can. Believing that if we helped the “right-people” we could have a better quality of life than the others around us. In the short term this may be true for a few, but in the long term it never works.

Hence the current leaders are sociopathic, because they’ve been artificially selected to lead such a society where the few have the most power and influence. The sociopaths then started to select candidates, through many different means, that met their goals. Then, finally, they selected the ultimate sociopathic candidate that represented them the best.

So essentially our now broken artificial system selected the best candidate for itself, and the worst for the masses. All through artificial means. So the next time someone tries to tell you that Trump is a great leader keep in mind that he is more like a purebred dog. I don’t mean that as a compliment. I really mean inbred dog. Someone literally took the most sociopathic people, put them together, gave them money and power, and allowed them to keep gaining it until we ended up with what we have. Trump is not a champion mutt capable of surviving in the wild on his own for many years. He’s more like a dog with stumpy legs that you force breed with another dog with stumpy legs until you get something as useless, and personally incapable of taking care of itself, as the Dachshund. Yet the Dachshund will still bark and play and try to be a real dog. Just like Trump will try to be a president and play with all of his equally useless friends like they’re real leaders too.

Trump Supporters Boo Veterans

Listen, I get why some people didn’t vote for Hillary and the establishment. She was a shitty candidate. Still, the most disturbing thing about the Trump presidency is who it has emboldened. I was downtown recently, and the Veterans for Peace (a non-partisan group) were outside waving flags for peace, rainbow flags, and Veteran’s for Peace flags. This caused some passing motorists to boo them and yell Trump at them. I was busy thanking them for their service, and efforts (since many of my family have served), when I witnessed this. Every person that yelled at them was, of course, driving a gigantic truck or SUV. You know, the kind that someone with a small dick buys to compensate for their inadequacies because buying a really nice car, that’s less expensive and that also gets good gas mileage, is just too much to ask of them because they’re really insecure. I’ll bet that most of the deplorables that did that were not even veterans themselves, but privileged adult-children. This is the real problem with the Trump presidency. It has brought out, and emboldened, all of the monsters that were lying in wait to destroy everything that is good in the world, and threatens all of the progress reasonable people have made over the years.

What the Founding Fathers Would Say About What Is to Come From President Trump

“Although a majority will always find itself uncomfortable with radical ideas attacking its cherished beliefs, as a matter of constitutional law, the policy of the American democracy is that speech, no matter how unpopular, must be protected.” — Thomas Jefferson

“If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so.” — Thomas Jefferson

“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.”– George Washington, in a speech of January 7, 1790

“The United States is in no way founded upon the Christian religion.” — John Adams

“All governments are more or less combinations against the people. . .and as rulers have no more virtue than the ruled. . . the power of government can only be kept within its constituted bounds by the display of a power equal to itself, the collected sentiment of the people.”

— Benjamin Franklin Bache, in a Philadelphia Aurora editorial 1794
